For the second year running, Feathers & Fur Falconry Centre has been honoured with the Best Family Attraction in Berkshire award by Muddy Stilettos. This accolade celebrates the centre’s dedication to educating the public about British birds of prey and owls.

Feathers & Fur Falconry Centre, an independently-run establishment, boasts a diverse collection of birds including Barn Owls, Peregrine Falcons, Snowy Owls, and Buzzards. With a strong commitment to education, the centre offers various interactive activities such as educational talks for schools and groups, half-day hands-on sessions, family falconry experiences, and family owl encounters.

A Legacy of Education and Wildlife

Operating for 14 years and based at Moss End Garden Village for the past two, Feathers & Fur has made significant strides in wildlife education. The centre’s owner, Sadie, emphasised the importance of this award: “It’s such a nice recognition for the amount of work that goes into running Feathers & Fur. So much goes on behind the scenes looking after all the animals – daily feeding, cleaning, and flying them. It’s great that our amazing volunteers have been recognised for the work they do.”

Recognition Amongst Stiff Competition

As a small business with just four staff members, Feathers & Fur triumphed over formidable competitors such as Wellington Country Park and Bucklebury Farm. The award underscores the centre’s transformation from a perceived hobby to a recognised business. Sadie added, “The community we have here at Moss End is amazing. Everyone voted for us and helped to share the news with their customers. This award shows we are being taken seriously and it will help with awareness.”

Celebrating Success

Olivia and Ann, staff members of Feathers & Fur, attended the awards ceremony at The Loch & The Tyne in Old Windsor to receive the certificate. With 21 birds, the most popular being the Snowy Owl and the Barn Owl, Feathers & Fur continues to captivate and educate visitors.
